The Mid America Trucking Show was formed in 1972 with the purpose of creating the largest trucking show in North America. Originally with 4,000 attendees and 83 exhibitors, MATS has currently grown to nearly 82,000 attendees and over 1,000 exhibitors with 1 million square feet of exhibits. Housed in the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, KY, MATS is not only three days of exhibitions, but also includes educational seminars, concerts and events. It truly is an exciting show full of networking, hands on demonstrations and opportunities to learn from experts in the industry.
For the past 4 years Witzco Trailers has exhibited at MATS and the last 2 years we have brought our trailers for display. It has definitely had a positive impact for our company, our dealers and our end users. Witzco’s owner Josh Weinstein attended the show along with Plant Manager Dave Norman, Sales Manager Jeff Schatz, and Quality Control Technician Shami Jimenez. One of the highlights of the show was meeting some of our end users who were very satisfied with their trailers. They were able to give us an idea of how our trailers are operating and being utilized on a daily basis. It was great to connect directly with our customers. Additionally, we were lucky to have two of our dealers join us at our booth, Bill Hamilton of Hamilton Equipment located in Linton, Indiana, and Mark Czupta from Deluxe Trailer Sales in East Hazel Crest, Illinois. We spent time with our suppliers from Cush Suspensions, Jason Klein and Kevin Schlack, who invited us to Horseshoe Casino in Indiana for dinner.
Another evening was spent at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Louisville with Darryl Lovell, Ken Roan and John Misken from Sealco Commercial Vehicle Products. All in all, we consistently come away from MATS with good experiences and excellent results.
